Nova Friburgo

I’ve now been visiting Friburgo for just over a week, and it’s been great to catch up with folk, especially at the church that I founded in the slum of Cordoeira. I ministered at the church yesterday, last Sunday and last Wednesday night and spoke to a boys’ group last Thursday night and tonight.

It’s been eye-opening to talk to survivors of the landslides and floods that happened in January, and to see that there is still much to be done in the region, both in terms of helping the survivors and also to prepare for the next rainy season which will begin at the end of the year.

Here are some photos I’ve taken around the city over the last week, showing how that many of the physical scars of Brazil’s worst-ever natural disaster still remain.
