Another aftershock and more photos

There was a strong 5.0 aftershock this morning, which disrupted power to some parts of the city and resulted in the Riccarton mall and other places being evacuated.

This afternoon I walked through the central city, bought some bits and pieces, and took a few photos. This morning’s shock undoubtedly caused a few more bricks to fall down, although most of the damage is from the initial shock and the strong aftershock.

All central city buildings display signs, issued by the City Council, which denote that building’s safety status. Many building still show the hand-painted markings from the Urban Search and Rescue teams. There are many cones and wire barricades around in the central city, cordoning off the buildings which are unsafe.
