 Originally from Christchurch, New Zealand, Paul spent 24 years in Brazil where he worked with non-profit and faith-based organisations in community development and Disaster Risk Reduction initiatives. Following his return home to New Zealand in 2018, Paul obtained a Master of Emergency Management with Distinction from Massey University. Paul was employed as an Emergency Management Advisor with the Wellington Region Emergency Management Office in 2020 and 2021 and, since the start of 2022, as an Emergency Managment Officer with the Waimakariri District Council.  He is currently undertaking a PhD course of study about Disaster Risk Reduction at the Monash University Accident Research Centre in Melbourne.
